      <image:title>About</image:title>
<image:caption>Asma Mobin-Uddin, MD, MA is a pediatrician, clinical ethicist and award-winning children’s author. Her first book, My Name is Bilal, won the Paterson Prize for Books for Young People. Her second, The Best Eid Ever, was recognized with a Skipping Stones Honor Award and the Middle East Outreach Council Book Award Honorable Mention. Her third book, A Party in Ramadan, won a Parent’s Choice Award. Born in the United States and of Pakistani descent, Asma grew up in a small Ohio town where there were few other Muslim families. She began writing to fill a need in the larger community for authentic books about Muslim-American kids. She continued to write to fill a need in herself to share this experience. Currently, Asma is the director of the ethics consultation service in the hospital in which she works. She also serves on the board of directors of her local mosque. She enjoys hiking, running and spending time with family and friends.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About</image:title>
<image:caption>“An act of kindness that you do for someone is like a seed that you plant. Planting seeds is a way we can make our world more beautiful and comforting. When a seed is first planted in the soil, no one can see it. Other people may not even appreciate it. But in its own time, a seed, like an act of kindness, can take root, grow, and blossom. When it feels hard to be kind, look outside. Remember that the tall trees, the beautiful flowers and the green grass all started out as small, planted seeds that grew and now make the world a better place for all of us.” Asma Mobin-Uddin, Author’s Note, My Name is Bilal (paperback edition, coming in September 2021)</image:caption>
